    Technical Specifications

    • Platelet lysate is a suitable replacement of Fetal Bovine Serum in cell culture media used for expansion of Mesenchymal Stem Cells.

    • It requires addition of heparin to the culture media in order to avoid clot formation.

    • This product has been prepared from expired platelets obtained from screened human blood donors and does not contain any additives. NYBC platelet lysate has been sterile filtered and sterility tested (aerobic, anaerobic and endotoxin).

    • This product can be stored frozen at -20 C for 1 year from the manufacturing date.

    Research Grade

Plasate™ Research Grade human platelet lysate has been prepared from pooled expired apheresis platelets stored in plasma obtained from screened normal human blood donors and does not contain any additional additives. It is used to culture cells, providing an animal-free media. Plasate™ has appropriate release testing, including bacterial culture, endotoxin, and mesenchymal stem cell doubling times.

    GMP Grade

This Human platelet lysate product is manufactured inside a clean room under GMP conditions with extensive GMP level documentation. Similar to Research grade Plasate™, this product is prepared by pooling platelet lysate obtained from multiple screened donors to reduce lot to lot variability.  Each manufacturing step is monitored and controlled to ensure highest standard of quality. GMP grade products are tested for Mycoplasma in addition to aerobic/anaerobic bacterial sterility testing and endotoxin sterility testing. Each lot is tested for growth of Mesenchymal stem cells to validate the quality of the final product. A certificate of analysis is provided for each lot with quality assurance team approval.

  • CD34+ Cells

We provide complex enrichment and/or depletion procedures using monoclonal antibodies, magnetic particles, and flow cytometric cell sorting. Fresh or cryopreserved purified cells are offered in 0.1, 0.5, 1 million, or 5 million cells per vial aliquots. CD34+ hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells are highly purified and viable cells isolated from cord blood or peripheral blood.

  • Cord Blood

Cord blood is collected from the placenta and umbilical cord after birth, by specially trained nurses and technicians of the National Cord Blood Program (NCBP). The cord blood units (CBUs) are collected primarily for clinical use, but some may not meet all NCBP criteria. Fresh, non-clinical grade CBUs are made available for research. These CBUs are neither processed, other than mixed with anticoagulant, nor tested and they are provided without donor identifiers or donor specific information.

We have a large inventory of frozen research CBUs. These CBUs have been volume-reduced to remove most of the red blood cells (RBCs) and plasma and concentrated to 25 mL final volume, including the cryoprotectant. They are frozen with controlled-rate method and are stored in Liquid Nitrogen in BioArchive freezers. The frozen CBUs have had at least some testing performed, e.g., Infectious Disease Markers, HLA, Bacteriology, Flow Cytometry, CBC, etc. Frozen CBUs with specific characteristics, e.g. total cell count or CD34+ count, or HLA typing, can be provided upon request.
